Press release regarding the transport situation between Monaco and France

Transportation between the Principality of Monaco and the Alpes-Maritimes with a driver is a service that offers many advantages. One of the main advantages is the convenience. The drivers know the area well and can take you wherever you want to go without any problems. They also offer a safe and comfortable way to get around, especially if you are not familiar with the area.

Another advantage of this service is that it is often cheaper than taking a cab or renting a car. Drivers usually have fixed rates, so you know the exact cost of the trip in advance.

However, access to the Monegasque territory by drivers from the Alpes-Maritimes has been restricted, they must respect quotas and cannot enter without a vignette.

Indeed, since 2014, in order to work in Monaco, French professionals must purchase a vignette from the principality. However, since the Covid-19 pandemic, the number of vignettes granted has decreased from about thirty to twelve.

The Minister of State recalled the complexity of the situation given the density of the territories, their strong attractiveness and the need to ensure the safety of people and goods.

So if you need to be picked up in Monaco, it's going to be complicated.

On October 25, a press release was issued by the government of the Principality of Monaco. The Minister of State, Pierre Dartout, accompanied by Government Councillors Jean Castellini and Patrice Cellario, received Monegasque and French professionals from the passenger transport sector (Taxis, Grande Remise, VTC), in the presence of the Prefect of the Alpes-Maritimes and the First Counsellor of the French Embassy in Monaco.

"The vignette system, which expires on 31st October, will be extended until 31st December 2022, at no additional cost".
